Cubic Online Outdoor Dust Monitor for Industrial Applications

In industrial environments where dust concentration is high, and affected by unstable climate conditions, traditional monitoring equipment frequently face challenges. For example, standard monitoring equipment are prone to dust accumulation, humidity interference, and signal anomalies such as zero readings, over-range values, and significant data drift. To address the persistent challenges in extreme dust environment, Cubic, as a leading manufacturer of gas sensors and analyzers, based on light scattering technology, has developed the online outdoor dust monitors —a industrial-grade solution that combines precision, durability, and intelligent adaptability. The monitors include two models—OPM-6303M and OPM-6303Q—each optimized for distinct industrial scenarios, while sharing a solid foundation in Cubic's core technology platform.

Both OPM-6303M and OPM-6303Q adopt high-power industrial-grade laser to ensure accurate measurement of airborne particulate matter, with particularly strong recognition of larger particles including PM10 and TSP. Unlike traditional sensors that often struggle with unstable readings in humid and variable outdoor conditions, the built-in heater and flow sensor provide constant temperature pretreatment and precise sampling flow control, minimizing the impact of high humidity and particle adhesion. The two monitors also support Modbus RS485 communication, ensuring uninterrupted data transmission for online monitoring even in remote or power-constrained industrial sites where stable infrastructure is limited. The monitors maintain stable operation across a wide temperature range of -30°C to 70°C, making them highly reliable in extreme weather, where conventional monitors may fail or require frequent recalibration.

The two models are each optimized for distinct industrial applications. OPM-6303M is designed to meet the requirement of regular outdoor dust monitoring scenarios, including urban grid-based deployment, construction sites, and infrastructure zones. With a five-in-one integrated structure—combining a dust sensor, heater, filter, flow sensor, and pump—the monitor supports simultaneous measurement of PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10, TSP, and optionally PM4.25. The level of integration not only reduces maintenance complexity but also prevents common issues including flow instability and moisture interference, which are prevalent in traditional sensor setups. Leveraging Cubic’s advanced Auto Particle Identification (API) technology, it intelligently distinguishes particle sources, achieving high measurement accuracy even under fluctuating environmental dust compositions. The monitor delivers reliable accuracy even in low dust concentrations (≤100 μg/m³), outperforming traditional monitors that often struggle with unstable or inaccurate readings.

OPM-6303Q is built for high concentration dust environments including open-pit mines, bulk material handling facilities, steel and cement plants. While maintaining the strengths of laser-based particle detection and stable pump-suction flow control, the monitor features a reinforced anti-dust structure and a wider measurable concentration range—up to 1000 mg/m³, with precision maintained even under heavily polluted conditions. The design helps to avoid common failures of conventional sensors in high-load environments, such as saturation, zero drift, or data spikes due to accumulated dust. The monitor supports PM2.5, PM10, and TSP output and is engineered to resist sensor saturation, false zero values, and cumulative fouling common in high-dust operations. By maintaining data stability in such extreme conditions, OPM-6303Q offers a robust and maintenance-friendly alternative to standard equipment that often require frequent servicing or replacement.

With the online outdoor dust monitor, Cubic delivers targeted solutions for both moderate and extreme dust monitoring demands in outdoor industrial applications. Whether deployed in urban air quality monitoring or in the high-dust industrial environments, the monitors reflect Cubic’s technological innovation and high-standard performance. Based on self-developed core sensing technology platform and deep industry experience, the monitors not only solve the pain points in the industry but also support more intelligent industrial practices.
