First Release of Version 4.1!
Cubic Refrigerant Gas Sensor Receives ETL Certification Under the New UL 60335-2-40:2025 Standard

On July 29, 2026, Cubic Sensor and Instrument Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Cubic”) was pleased to announce that the self-developed NDIR refrigerant gas sensor, AM4205GR-R32-L series, officially received the ETL certification issued by Intertek, based on the new UL 60335-2-40:2025 standard. The industry’s first ETL certification based on the updated UL standard demonstrates Cubic’s continued technological leadership and innovative capabilities in the field of refrigerant gas leakage monitoring.

The new UL 60335-2-40:2025 standard was officially released on October 31, 2025, introducing more stringent requirements for refrigerant gas leakage detection equipment. The revision includes multiple updates and additions to the Annex LL testing requirements, covering refrigerant poisoning and oil spray tests, sensor drift tests, humidity tests, temperature tests, and other evaluation items, further enhancing the safety and reliability requirements for refrigerant gas sensors.

The certified AM4205GR-R32-L series is developed based on Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) technology, specifically designed for accurate monitoring of R32 refrigerant gas leakage. It features high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, and long-term stability. The sensor maintains high-accuracy measurement performance across a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, with a long lifetime of up to 15 years. With fast response capability, it can quickly detect refrigerant gas leakage at an early stage and provide timely warnings, effectively protecting equipment and human safety.

Since 2016, Cubic has proactively invested in the development of refrigerant gas leakage monitoring technologies and has launched diverse gas sensor products based on mature NDIR technology, which are widely adopted in heat pumps, split AC, portable air conditioners, VRF systems, AHUs, A-coils, centrifugal chillers, and screw compressor units, flexibly meeting the requirements of residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

As a globally recognized testing, inspection, and certification organization, Intertek holds multiple international accreditations, including A2LA and NRTL. The ETL certification issued by Intertek is a widely recognized product safety mark in the North American market. Obtaining certification under the revised standard indicates that Cubic’s products fully comply with applicable safety requirements in the United States and Canada, helping reduce compliance costs for HVAC equipment manufacturers in the North American market.

Previously in 2023, Cubic established a flammable refrigerant monitoring system laboratory recognized by Intertek, and in 2024 obtained the first A2L refrigerant gas sensor certification in the Asia-Pacific region based on the UL 60335-2-40 standard, issued by UL Solutions. These achievements demonstrate Cubic’s strong technological capabilities and commitment to product quality, while further validating the company’s continuous innovation and deep expertise in refrigerant gas monitoring technologies.

Looking ahead, Cubic will continue to advance the refrigerant gas sensing solution complying with the latest standards. By delivering superior product performance and accurately addressing evolving market demands, Cubic aims to provide safer, more reliable, and more efficient refrigerant monitoring solutions, supporting the development of sustainable green refrigeration technologies and a low-carbon society.
