Cubic A3 R-290 Refrigerant Gas Leak Sensor Successfully Passed Intertek Testing In Accordance With IEC-60335-2-40 and UL 60335-2-40

Recently, Cubic self-developed A3 R-290 refrigerant gas leak sensor, AM4205 series, successfully completed testing by the third-party authoritative testing organization, Intertek, certifying that AM4205 series meets the requirements of IEC-60335-2-40 and UL 60335-2-40 standards.

In response to the current trends in the application of new flammable refrigerants and the flammable and explosive characteristics of low GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants, Cubic, leveraging its core NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) technology platform, independently developed credible and qualified refrigerant gas leak sensor AM4205 series to provide fast response to A3 refrigerant propane gas leaks.

Cubic AM4205 series is a refrigerant gas sensor based on NDIR technology, with best-in-class accuracy, fast response, superior resistance to high temperature, humidity and pressure impact, specially designed for fan coil, gas furnace, heat pump applications. AM4205 series also keep integrated mitigation function with built-in relay design, which provide HVAC&R equipment more convenient and flexible dry contact control for fan and compressor to ensure high reliability for refrigerant detection system. At the same time, the successful Intertek test certification for qualifications with IEC 60335-2-40 and UL 60335-2-40 indicates that AM4205 series is a credible and reliable sensing solution for HVAC & Refrigerant equipment.

Intertek, a globally renowned comprehensive quality assurance service provider, possesses robust capabilities in HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) equipment energy efficiency testing and extensive global service experience. Moreover, Intertek third-party laboratories comply with the testing standards of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), making them trusted partners for industry authorities such as AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) and AHAM.

Currently, Cubic laboratory has been authorized by Intertek Shanghai as Intertek witness laboratory for providing qualification test with the scope of IEC 60335-2-40: 2022 Annex LLE, EN IEC 60335-2-40:2023+A11: 2023 Annex LL and UL60335-2-40 4th & amendments Annex LL. The authorized witness laboratory means Intertek has evaluated Cubic testing resources compliant with international standards.

Under this context, Cubic apply its own testing resources to conduct on-site testing of self-developed refrigerant gas sensor products in accordance with international standards, which can effectively shorten the certification testing cycle for new products. In the future, Cubic will continuously provide reliable safety monitoring solutions for the HVAC industry to deliver certified gas sensing solutions to global customers in light of the ongoing changes in the application of new refrigerant substitutes.
